We are Afghans For A Better Tomorrow
Together with our community, we offer hope and help to Afghans to achieve a peaceful and safe future through advocacy, support, and community building.
Our organization came into existence out of necessity.
In August of 2021, we mobilized and led the way in coordinating evacuations for at-risk Afghans and other rapid-response efforts, filling a void left by the United States government. As the children of parents who fled war decades ago, our leadership team came together to ensure our community members could find safety and freedom in the United States. Our work is rooted in the belief that no one should be a refugee, which requires principled organizing to prevent it from happening.
Our mission
AFBT aims to organize the Afghan-American community to bring about systemic change in the U.S. and beyond to ensure all Afghans have lives of safety, dignity, and freedom.
Our vision
In the face of decades of violence, we envision a peaceful, better tomorrow for Afghan Americans where we, alongside other marginalized communities, are treated with dignity and freedom.
Our funding
We operate through support from private philanthropy and your generous help. We are grateful to the following contributors:
Rockefeller Brothers Fund
Welcome.us/GoFundMe
Dr. Bronner’s Foundation
RISE’s Proteus Fund
Zakat Fund NYC
Compton Foundation
