Lida Azim

SHE/HER

CO-DIRECTOR, PROGRAMMING

BOARD CHAIR

Lida is a second-generation Afghan-American and community organizer based in the Bay Area, California. During the Trump administration’s talks with the Taliban, she spearheaded efforts to ensure Afghan women were present at the negotiating table. Ahead of America’s withdrawal, she co-founded Afghans For A Better Tomorrow. She currently serves as a Program Director for a non-profit based in Washington DC, America Indivisible (AI). AI works with government officials and civic leaders to promote a racially and religiously inclusive nation through educating government leaders about the toxic intersection of racial and religious bigotry and by facilitating civic engagement between government leaders and communities affected by anti-Muslim racism.

Her writing has been published in Newsweek and has been cited in Al Jazeera, Vox, LA Times, and Business Insider, among other media outlets globally. Lida majored at San Jose State University with a B.A. in Political Science and History and furthered her education at American University with an M.A. in International and Intercultural Communication. She hopes to continue to work towards a better space for understanding and acceptance for not only Muslims but those who are perceived to be Muslim.
