Mursel is a San Diego native with international aspirations. She has an MA in International Relations and directs SWANA (Southwest Asian/North African) region studies at the Center for International Relations and International Security. Mursel is a staff member at the Kawaakibi Foundation and supports the Jamal Khashoggi Disinformation Monitor program. Through her work as the co-founder of Afghans Empowered, she supports community-based projects in Afghanistan and Greece and promotes ways for diaspora communities to connect and get involved in their local communities. She joined AFBT’s staff in 2023 as a project coordinator, playing a critical role in the organization's programming.
